EN 520+A1:2009 defines the technical requirements applicable to gypsum plasterboards intended for use in construction. It classifies boards by type (A, H, E, F, D, R, I and P) according to their properties, including water absorption, fire resistance, density, mechanical strength and hardness. It specifies minimum performance requirements for flexural strength, dimensions, tolerances, water-vapour and air permeability, thermal conductivity and water absorption. Standardised test methods cover, in particular, flexural strength, surface hardness, density, core cohesion at high temperatures, shear strength and dimensional measurements. The standard also describes procedures for sampling, conformity assessment, factory production control, designation and CE marking, as well as the conditions for fire classification under the Euroclass system.
