EN ISO 16283-1 : Acoustics - Field measurement of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements - Part 1 : Airborne sound insulation (ISO 16283-1:2014).

This standard specifies sound pressure measurement procedures for determining airborne sound insulation between two rooms in a building. It applies to rooms with volumes ranging from 10 m³ to 250 m³ and to frequencies from 50 Hz to 5,000 Hz. The results can be used to quantify, assess, and compare sound insulation in furnished or unfurnished rooms, whether or not their acoustic field can be considered diffuse. The measured sound insulation is frequency-dependent and may be converted into a single-number rating characterizing acoustic performance in accordance with the rating methods defined in ISO 717-1.
