EN 15978 : Sustainability of construction works - Assessment of environmental performance of buildings - Calculation method.

This document provides a method based on life cycle assessment and quantified environmental information for assessing and communicating the environmental performance of new, existing, and refurbished buildings. It defines the purpose of the assessment, the system boundary at building level, the inventory procedure, the indicators and their calculations, as well as data and reporting requirements. The method covers the entire life cycle and includes all building-related products, processes, and services, using EPDs, their information modules in accordance with prEN 15804, and, where necessary, other data. Guidance addresses the use or absence of EPDs and scenarios. Interpretation and value judgements of the results are excluded. The rules allow indicators to be quantified collectively or individually.
