This standard specifies the requirements and tests for assessing the mechanical strength of thermally broken metal profiles when their performance depends on the intended use. It defines the determination of characteristic values for mechanical properties and the assessment of the effect that conditioning the thermal break within the test enclosure has on the connection. It applies primarily to profiles intended for windows, doors, window-and-door assemblies, and curtain walls. It excludes thermal breaks that do not contribute to mechanical strength, as well as those consisting solely of metal profiles connected by intermittent metal joints or screws. This edition of EN 14024 replaces EN 14024:2004; differences in test procedures do not result in significant differences in results, which are therefore considered equivalent.
