This standard specifies the method for classifying the fire-resistance performance of construction products and building elements used as components of service installations, based on test data falling within the direct field of application of the relevant test method. It also covers classification based on the extended application of test results. For ventilation systems, excluding smoke-control systems, it applies to ventilation ducts and fire-resistant dampers. For cable systems or products used as such, it applies to unprotected electrical cables with intrinsic fire resistance, as well as to fire-protection systems intended for cable systems and their associated components. The relevant test methods are listed in Clause 2. Cables associated with fire-resistant dampers are generally excluded unless required by local regulations.
