This standard specifies a method for determining the fire resistance of doors, shutters and openable windows installed in openings in vertical separating elements: hinged, pivoted, horizontally or vertically sliding, articulated, sectional, folding, sliding-folding, tilting or rolling doors, openable windows, and operable fabric curtains. It is intended to be used in conjunction with EN 1363-1. Fire dampers and conveyor system closures are covered by EN 1366-2 and EN 1366-7, respectively. Subject to the sponsor’s prior agreement, additional information concerning certain items of hardware may be collected in accordance with the criteria set out in EN 1634-2 and presented in a separate report complying with that standard. Doors tested in accordance with this standard and classified in accordance with EN 13501-2 may, subject to national regulations, be used as an alternative to lift landing doors tested in accordance with EN 81-58, whose specific testing and classification may not be suitable for other national applications.
