This document provides the common product category rules for Type III environmental declarations for construction products and services. It defines the indicators and information to be reported, how they are grouped and recorded, and the life-cycle stages and processes to be included in the EPD. It specifies the rules for developing scenarios, calculating the inventory, and assessing life-cycle impacts, including data-quality requirements. It also provides for the communication, where necessary, of environmental and health information not covered by the life-cycle assessment. Finally, it establishes the conditions for comparing construction products on the basis of EPDs. The rules applicable to construction services are identical to those for products. Social and economic performance is not covered.
