This standard specifies the requirements for indoor environmental parameters, including the thermal environment, indoor air quality, lighting and acoustics, as well as the methods for their specification for the design of building systems and energy performance calculations. It establishes criteria for local thermal discomfort (draught, radiant temperature asymmetry, vertical air temperature differences, and floor surface temperature). It applies to buildings where the indoor environment is determined by human occupancy, without significant influence from industrial or other process-related activities. It also specifies the occupancy profiles to be used for standardized energy performance calculations and the application of different categories of indoor environmental criteria. The standard provides input parameters for the design of the building envelope, heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting systems, and positions the standard within the modular structure of the EPB standards defined in EN ISO 52000-1.
